Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Optician to join our team. As an Optician, you will assist customers in selecting and fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses, ensuring their vision needs are met. Your expertise in anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology will be essential in providing accurate and personalized recommendations to our customers.
Duties:
- Assist customers in selecting appropriate eyeglasses frames based on their preferences and facial features
- Take accurate measurements of customers' eyes, including pupillary distance and optical centers
- Fit and adjust eyeglasses frames to ensure proper alignment and comfort
- Educate customers on proper eyeglass and contact lens care, including cleaning and maintenance techniques
- Dispense contact lenses, ensuring proper fit and providing instructions on insertion and removal
- Process orders for eyeglasses and contact lenses, including verifying prescription accuracy
- Utilize retail math skills to calculate pricing, discounts, and insurance coverage
- Maintain inventory of eyeglasses frames, contact lenses, and other optical products
- Keep up-to-date with the latest trends in eyewear fashion and lens technology
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to the eyes
- Familiarity with medical terminology used in optometry practices
- Proficient in using electronic health record systems (Epic) for patient documentation
- Excellent sales skills with a customer-focused approach
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy is maintained
- Ability to perform basic vital signs measurements (e.g., blood pressure)
- Prior experience in retail sales or customer service is preferred
